Woody & Ted: "Connected"
Posted: Wednesday May 30th, 2012 by

When I wake up on Wednesdays my primary objective is to watch Extra Credits. Today they shocked me. I'm not going to be able to disseminate the information as effectively as they did, so I encourage you to go and watch the episode. (linked below) That being said, let me see if I can impart a little of the information before collapsing into a babbling mess.

It's called the Spectrum Crunch. Our wireless airwaves are packed. The mobile phone industry is nearing capacity and there is no easily solution. America consumes data and the amount of consumption is growing exponentially. What I didn't expect was that there really is a hard cap on how much data can be passed wirelessly before data streams begin to bash into each other and corrupt the information. I said I was shocked but when stopped to think about it the concept makes complete sense. Then I felt silly for not thinking about it before. I'm a smart guy that worked in radio in college, I KNOW better. It just didn't occur to me that we might already be bumping up against that hard cap.

Anywho, here's that episode, go watch...
Extra Credits: Season 4, Episode 15 - "Spectrum Crunch"

Taks is participating in Crossfit for Hope a fundraiser benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Taks' goal is $300. But the gym she is working with has a total goal of $500. I'd like to show them the power of GU and help crush both. It's for kids. You can read more about what the challenge is and make donations here: Taks @ Crossfit for Hope.
