Each year the Social Security Administration post a report on the most popular baby names from the previous year. The name Emily has topped the list of girls' names since 1996 and Jacob has topped the list for boys since 1999. But in 2007, amidst a glut of similar names, the 931st most popular entry on the boys' list is Raiden.

I find it somewhat amusing that the name Raiden appears on the list. But, honestly looking at the other "aiden" rhyming entries, I have no doubt it's presence is completely unrelated to the Mortal Kombat character of the same name.

I brought this article to the folks in the GU Live Feed, and the conversation in the panel is almost exactly how Sanct and Kitono responded. I was so amused by the quip, I ran with the idea and drew them both into the comic. Yes, those are caricatures. Not very good ones, but caricatures none the less.

See what you miss when you don't log in to watch every night?

Anywho, thanks Sanct and Kitono. I hope the comic atleast brings you braggin rights with people who've probably never heard of the comic before. **grins**

GU Live via uStream.tv ( April 25th, 2008 )
Were you ever curious as to how I produce the comics? Well, for the last few nights I've been streaming the process live. So, if you're really curious you can watch, ask questions, talk to other folks in the room about what's going on, etc.

You can find the feed (when it's live) and the chatroom here: http://www.gucomics.com/live/

You'll need a uStream account to chat. No worries, it's free. And if you're one of the folks that can get immediate updates via Twitter, I've started using that to announce when a feed is starting.

I'll keep doing the feeds until it's obvious you guys are no longer interested. It's a pretty good opportunity to see how I work, if you dig that kind of thing. And a chance to ask questions where I can not only answer but show you what I'm doing.

I hope you guys get a kick out of it. I tend to start working around 6pm Mountain (GMT-7) the day before the comic is posted. But that time can fluxuate wildly depending on how the gaming news is flowing.

The GU Store re-Opens ( January 19th, 2008 )
For last year's ConnectiCon, we put together an ample supply of table goodies but could only take so much with us. And the rest I promised to make available to you guys, but I'd need to revamp the GU Store to do it. Well I procrastinated for long enough, now everything is up and running. Hopefully it's all running smoothly as well.

Here's the link:
http://www.gucomics.com/store/

Some things to note...
We do not handle the tshirts; we have two companies that do that for us. But, we do ship the posters, buttons, stickers, and post cards directly (allowing me to sign some of those items for you, if you want). We use paypal to manage online sales. So, if anything goes wonky... please feel free to blame them. **whistles**

Unfortunately, by law, we have to charge Colorao residents state sales tax. Sorry. We have tried to keep all shipping costs reasonable though.

I hope you guys enjoy what we currently have to offer. Thanks for your patronage.
