XBOX ONE: "Know Your Audience"

I'm not sure what market research Microsoft did before they decided to commit to the announcement yesterday for the XBOX ONE, but from where I sat it seemed way off target. Almost everyone I know seemed to have wrinkled their noses in unison. The announcement seems better received as parody than actual info about Microsoft's next generation console. I'm certain there is more to the system that what their executives harped on. But, they didn't really give us anything beyond stuff that doesn't excite most gamers. Who did they think their audience was?
I'll be honest with you here, there's nothing about what Microsoft provided that comes anywhere close to making me feel like I want to buy one. Quite frankly with the Kinect 2 requirement and knowing that it is ALWAYS listening, I'm not certain that I can run away quick enough. And that's before considering the online (once per 24 hours if you want to play games) requirement, the end of freely borrowing/sharing games with your friends, no backwards compatibility, fees for second hand games, storing all of the game data on the system (which will quickly eat through the 500 gig harddrive for ravenous game enthusiasts), and why the focus on television?
Anywho, I'll leave you to your own opinions and discussions of the XBOX ONE.
And I thought the "Nintendo Wii" was a stupid name for a console.
