EVE Online: "Tastes"

Well, seems CCP is finally pulling the trigger on combining EVE Online and Dust 514. The servers will merge tomorrow and EVE players will be able to impact planets hosting Dust 514 fights. It's a fantastic idea. Dust 514 is currently free to play in a PS3 only closed beta. The game will move to open beta with a full release later this year. [more info]
I've got some concerns here. It's a PS3 game getting merged with a 10 year old PC based MMO. But if it can be done, that'd be awesome. Though I do not play either game, I've got my fingers crossed that this will work. Good luck CCP, EVE, and Dust 514 players!

So with all the frustration over ads on GU I've been thinking of revisiting an old idea: going ad free. I had a Kickstarter project drafted to do this (as well as improve the site) but they turned me down. Then Penny Arcade did the same things later, which Kickstarter approved. So I dropped the idea not wanting to appear as a copycat even though my project proposal was submitted months before. Well, now I'm more interested in scrapping ads than I am worried about looking like a copycat. The project would however be handled via IndieGoGo.
What do you guys think? Would you be inclined to pitch in if it meant getting rid of the ads on GU?
