Redneck Rampage: "ActiPimpsion II"

IncGamers is reporting that Blizzard Entertainment has secured the trademarks for Redneck Rampage, Redneck Rampage Rides Again, and Redneck Rampage Suckin' Grits on Route 66.

As far as the reliability of this information goes, consider it a rumor. Yes, Blizzard may be working on a new IP. Yes there may be ties between Redneck Rampage and Blizzard Staff. But Blizzard has not made an official annoucement. And for all we know this is probably just a left over remnant of the various Vivendi/Activision/Blizzard mergers.
For me this was just an excuse to take another jab at Activision. See, from my perspective, they're running the Guitar Hero franchise into the dirt. And after hearing the complaints from WoW raiders about dumbing down raid difficulty, I started to fear they were wiggling their fingers around WoW too. Now, we see a rumor that Blizzard's next game might be Redneck Rampage, a first person shooter pitting Redneck's against Aliens.
Again there is currently zero proof that Blizzard is actually working on a Redneck Rampage title.
Sidenote...
I've never played any of the Redneck Rampage games, and I likely never will. Being from the south, though I'd never consider myself a redneck, I'm sensitive to the way "rednecks" are typically handled. And, reading the first game's description excerpt over at IncGamers, I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips against an actual sneer. Thank goodness I'm dehydrated or I might have actually spit at the game by way of my computer screen.
Of course latching onto a stereotype is the butter to the game industry's proverbial bread. As a community we gamers have, quite naturally, matured. Yet for some odd reason our games, as a whole, do not seem to have matured with us. Sure, I don't mind having my inner child catered to. Videogames ARE games after all. But I don't exactly need classism intermingled with my fart jokes.
