Zynga fiercely defends the use of the word "ville", blocking other developers from using it in the name of their games. Today they settled a lawsuit against PyramidVille creator Kobojo to have the game renamed. No money changed hands, but the game will be retitled PyramidValley. [more info]
I shouldn't give Zynga crap for protecting something so closely tied to their overall brand, but they sued for three times more than Zobojo made off of the game in the first place. I understand this is standard legal practice; it's still a shitty move in my book. But it's exactly the kind of entitled garbage I expect out of Zynga, a company known more for stealing game concepts and design than for creating innovative new titles of their own.
I've put the Artist For Sale link back up as I'm still struggling to cover pitiful ad revenue. I'd appreciate you guys putting me to work on more commissions. But you can also make donations if you prefer. Thanks!
