Tribute: "Wes Craven"
Posted: Thursday September 3rd, 2015 by

As an artist, the first artwork I ever actually sold were sketches of Freddy when I was in Junior High. $5 got you a pencil sketch of his face and glove. Beyond that, I had a life size standup of Freddy in my bedroom, and a bladed glove that, though plastic, looked real enough for my needs. In a weird way Nightmare on Elm Street was the voice of my youth. Wes Craven's work left an indelible mark on me. The Last House on the Left, The Hills have Eyes, Swamp Thing, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Shocker, Scream... Wes carved a groove in the landscape of my dreams.

Craven's work never scared me. I wasn't that kind of kid. But, he offered thrills that I'll likely never forget.
See you in our dreams Wes.
