This past Wednesday, Nintendo of America hired a new Vice President to oversee sales, in-store merchandising, retail strategy, and retail marketing. He will help drive national sales strategies, manage key retail customer relationships, and direct retail marketing for the Nintendo World store in New York. In a move that was brilliant, whether it was pure coincidence or not, Nintendo hired a one mister Doug BOWSER. [more info]

As Nintendo put it, "[Bowser] brings a deep blend of both consumer package goods and video game sales experience. As Polygon put it, "You have to figure, once he applied, this was Doug's job to lose." I'm inclined to agree. If everything was equal and there were five similarly qualified candidates, being name BOWSER has to be your determining factor, yeah? Okay, okay, I'll admit to "what an awesome coincidence" bias here. I just hope "Doug" really embraces it.
