Nerd Culture: "War of the Proses"

Weird Al's new album "Mandatory Fun" came out yesterday; with it he released a video for "Word Crimes", a parody of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines". And, it's masterful. I've listened to it several times already and purchased the song via iTunes. There are other well done songs on the album like "Foil", "Inactive" and "Tacky. But, "Word Crimes" really is the draw for me.
So why the Andy Capp style fighting in the comic? I'm not typically one that corrects who/whom, good/well, and the like. In casual conversation it's just not necessary. And, well, it kind of makes one look like an ass. Though the disputes it engenders are often worth the correction. People just don't seem to appreciate it. For me, taking the position of grammar nazi would be damn near ironic anyway; I lack the proper qualifications. I left Georgia in '98 and still wrestle with the occasional southern patois. I can't be trusted to properly employ contractions let alone who versus whom.
If you have grammatical war stories, feel free to share.
