Skylanders: "Getting Old"

I was going to do a comic about Hearthstone, the free-to-play digital collectible card game Blizzard announced at PAX East. [more info] But, today is Tak's birthday; I have other stuff to focus on. This comic was already pretty much done, so to make the most of the day, I'm running with it.
We're getting old, Ted and I.
It's quite natural that even as hardcore as he is Ted is no longer built to compete with the next generation of gamers. This is evidenced in the way theKid plays Skylanders. It seems like I look away from him playing for ten minutes, look back and he's already leveled a character from 2 to 10 with the full compliment of upgrades. I marveled at this for a couple of days until I realized what he was doing. The game has a Battle Mode where you can play against another -real- player. Winner gets experience and gold. He was sitting the second controller aside and pounding on an opponent that wasn't fighting back. Genius.
Of course he's happy to play with someone else. But invariably you get the Level 1 character that he hasn't power leveled while he sits the Level 15 Giant on the portal beside you. No matter what you do, you're toast.
That's my boy. **grins**
