Right now I'm making the confused face. Word is Valve is considering an attempt at the console market. [more info] The idea being to provide a set top console to play Steam games. But, to keep pace with ever evolving game requirements, the speculation is that the units would be upgradable. Which leaves me asking "What exactly is the point?"
The beauty of console gaming is that the console remains the same, right? There's no need to buy better graphics cards, more ram, faster processor.
Anywho, this is all just conjecture based on Gabe Newell telling the guys at the Penny Arcade Report "if we have to sell hardware we will".[more info] Maybe this is just a reference to the patent they filed for a controller with interchangeable parts. Who knows? Well... Newell probably, but I doubt he'd tell me.
