Apple is suing Amazon to try to get them to stop using the words "App Store" to describe their new mobile software developer program claiming that use of the words "App Store" will "confuse and mislead customers". [more info]
It should be noted that Apple has App Store as a registered trademark, but Microsoft is bringing a appeal before the Trademark Appeal Board arguing that "app" is a common term for mobile software applications and "store" is a common term for a place where goods are sold, therefore "app store" is too generic and thus unregister-able.
