Dark Void: "Making the Job Harder"
Posted: Wednesday October 14th, 2009 by

I'll start off by telling you, until last night I'd not heard of Dark Void at all. And I've yet to have a game, movie, or TV show get slathered with the "most anticipated" label without having about heard it somewhere else first. Where I appreciate the power of positive thought and the quality of trying to generate a self-fulfilling prophecy, whenever I hear "most anticipated" tossed around I tend to get stand offish. In other words, it has the opposite effect on me than I'm sure the PR and marketing slapasses intended.

"So how did he hear about the game then?" you might be asking. Well... they're giving away a Tesla Roadster as part of the promotion of the game. [more info] It's the same video in which they talk about the car that the bad-suit-wearing, doucheface (whose caricature I mangled) claims Dark Void to be the most anticipated game of the year.

Here's something that confuses me about the claim though... It's not slated to release until the beginning of next year. So is it supposedly the "most anticipated game" of 2009 or 2010? Because seriously...
2009 = Beatles Rock Band; Bioshock 2; Assassin's Creed II; Scribblenauts; Uncharted 2; Brutal Legend!
2010 = Alan Wake; Avatar; Castlevania; God of War III; Star Wars the Old Republic; Diablo III (potentially); Starcraft 2 (potentially)!
Are you freakin' kidding me "most anticipated game of the year"? And that's just to name a few titles from each year they're potentially talking about. Even if everyone but me had heard of Dark Void, could it really top any of those?

Be honest, how many of you had heard of Dark Void before I mentioned it today?
