Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball: "Sadly, not a joke."
Posted: Wednesday August 29th, 2007 by

Last friday Blazing Lizard and the Gamecock Media Group announced the release of their first downloadable game, Pirates vs. Ninja Dodgeball. The game is being developed on Blazing Lizard's proprietary game engine, Infyrno and will feature themed dodgeball teams competing playground style in exhibition, story, and challenge modes with multiplayer options including 4 player local/8 players online, and 4 player cooperative. Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is expected to be available for download on "yet-to-be-announced" home console systems first quarter 2008.

I'll admit, I loathe the whole Pirate vs. Ninja vs. Cowboy vs. Robot. vs. Chicken crap and I apologize to anyone offended by my blunt declarations of dislike. But, when I read that a game company is going to create a title based on the hotly "debated" rivalry in the form of a dodgeball contest, I feel compelled to comment.

Gamecock Media is supposed to be such a cutting edge publisher, skating the edge of originally, giving shelter to the independent and innovative, that it pains me to see such a simplistic idea slink out of their "to do" pile. Don't get me wrong I'm glad it's not some regurjitated piece of gaming mediocrity. And, I will admit that my response is based entirely on my personal bias.

So, if the game demonstrates gameplay adeptness, I will apologize whole-heartedly. But, I guess I was hoping for something more substantial.
