News: "In Stock"
Posted: Tuesday October 10th, 2006 by

Google announced Monday (10/9) that it would be buying internet video hotspot, YouTube Inc. for $1.65 billion in stock. The purchase terms have been agreed upon by the board of directors of both companies. The deal includes a promise by Google to the founders that YouTube would be allowed to operate independantly.

With every major media venue betting on internet video to pave the way to new customers and advertising, Google made the first big leap and snapped up the largest video provider of its kind. Before I move on I would like to remind folks oggling at the pricetag, that it is a deal entirely in stock. And, where it's highly unlikely that Google stock will drop significantly enough for this to be bad deal, the YouTube owners will most likely have to wait a year or more before they can exercise any rights on the stock.

Now, being the pop culture whore that I am, the second I read the news item I thought of the Wendy's commercials wherein every monetary value is expressed in it's Wendy's dollar menu equivalent. The comic itself is stolen (intentionally) wholesale from one of the more humerous moments in one of the ads. Again, I just couldn't resist.
