The Sims 2: "Software Pirating Jackass"

One of the GU fans sent me a copy of the Sims 2, so I wouldn't have to steal my girlfriend's copy. Well, I've had it for a couple of days now, and finally decided today that I wanted to install it.
Well, I go through the process, wait patiently, and at the end of it all, a message pops up telling me that I can't play the game until I "turn off" the CD copying utilities I have on my computer. Well, I only have one (CloneCD), and it wasn't turned on. So, I took this to mean I would have to uninstall the program.
Now, I have that program to make backup copies of the games that I legally own. Yet, here I am, not able to play a game because apparently it's assumed that I'm going to clone the disc and distribute it at my liesure.
Now, I have it on good authority that this was NOT a decision made by EA, but by SafeDisc, the company they use to prevent illegal copies of the game from being made.
Now, ultimately, I don't see anything wrong with that. But, a game forcing me to remove CD copying utilities from my computer before I'm even allowed to play? That's just BS.
Anywho, I thought the "irony" of Today's Comic would go over well with most of the gaming crowd even though it does NOT really illustrate my exact situation. SOOO... if you're going to discuss the comic and the topic that's being addressed, please make sure you keep yourself to comments that work within the confines of the Easy Ways. We do NOT want to hear about the various CD cloning programs, your experiences cloning game discs, etc. And, for purposes of limiting the opportunity of ill advised commentary, I'm asking that you do NOT link any of the CD Cloning programs that exist. If people want them... they can find them on their own.
