Gaming News: "Oculus Miffed"

By now I'm sure you're all aware that Facebook have paid $2 Billion to buy Kickstarter darling Oculus, makers of probably the most accessible virtual reality rig we've seen to date. [more info] This has left a lot of people, Kickstarter backers in particular, a bit, shall we say perturbed. Among the vocal-ites is Minecraft creator Markus 'Notch' Persson. [more info] And, the complaints are all fairly similar. They're upset because the feel they threw their money behind an indie project, and with the swift flick of a pen, that project has been signed over to social media giant Facebook. Now, they may have Facebook accounts themselves. But there's enough of a disconnect between the two companies that pledgers are confused, even concerned, about Facebook's motivation. Now don't take my waving this news off as me not caring. I winced when I read the news. I just don't feel I have a dog in the race. I didn't throw money at the Kickstarter. I'm not itching to get my hands on the technology. It just doesn't feel like my place to get all angsty about it. I'll sit back and hope that my fears don't come true.
