Space Battles: the Ancient Commonwealth: "Free To Play"

After only seven months, Star Wars: the Old Republic is going free to play. [more info] Or, more specifically, a free to play option is being added to the game. That means instead of a primarily subscription based service Bioware will be endeavoring to find... alternate means of making money with the game.
Along with the Free To Play announcement (which goes into effect this November), the price of the game will be cut to $14.99. And, EA admitted that subscription numbers had fallen below 1 million active accounts. A lot of people have had their concerns about SWtOR, but there's plenty of evidence out there that demonstrates the potential of the free to play model. So I wouldn't expect it to disappear any time soon.
