I'm not much of a redditor. But, I stopped by /r/gaming last night and saw the advice from text bubble #2. In my opinion it was genius. Not that I dislike Diablo 3 or would trust Ted with my Battle.Net account. But every day of the Steam Summer Sale there's something I have to convince myself I don't need. I still regret missing the Batman pack that included Arkham Assylum, Arkham City, Gotham City Imposters, and all the various DLC all for $25. I saw it and wanted it, but didn't commit because I know my playing habits (and my budget). I'm probably going to regret that decision for a while though. Ah well.
Last month EA's David DeMartini accused Steam sales of cheapening Intellectual Property. I think that position is ignorant. These Steam Sales have encouraged me to buy games I wouldn't have otherwise. I've found games, looked at studios, and bought DLC all because a Steam Sale. And, I'd be willing to bet I'm not alone. DeMartini is the guy in charge of Origin, EA's version of Steam; so, I wouldn't expect any big discounts. Which, I think, will be horrible misstep.
Anywho, thanks /r/gaming and 'TheLazyRebel' specifically.
