At the Movies: "Volunteering"

I was trying to come up with a joke idea today and it occurred to me, again, that I really want to see the Avengers. Then, as my brain often does, I spiraled off on a tangent. I thought about how much I like almost everything Joss Whedon has done. Then I thought about how much George Lucas disappoints me. And then, a sparkling star of nerd light shown upon me; I briefly dreamed about what the Star Wars prequels would have been like if Joss had written them. I wept a little, but that was probably because I was also watching "We Bought A Zoo".

If wishes could be made manifest in the wholly unrelated tears of a nerd, we would have laughed, cried, and sympathized as Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. We would have seen plenty of buckles swashed, daring plot initiatives, and a sly, brotherly banter that made us ache with anticipation for what would be inevitable.

If only. If only.

So hey, I've decided... today's Daily Doodle is going to be Hellboy. I've never drawn him before, but I expect magic on some level. And as a reminder, my version of Atomic Robo is still available for sponsorship. A mere $40 to see the sketch inked and colored. Contact me for details. And if you're a Hellboy fan, you might want to keep refreshing Twitter and Facebook as 6pm (GMT-7) approaches. I honestly don't suspect he'll last long.
