Dungeons & Dragons: "4th Edition"
Posted: Friday May 6th, 2011 by

A few weeks ago Taks and I were invited to join a 4th edition D&D campaign. The first game is this Sunday. And, I haven't played since 2nd edition (nearly 20 years ago). So 4th edition is like a completely different game to me.

It was my understanding that WotC had simplified the game, making it easier/quicker to get into and start playing. But as I sat with my character sheet, the players handbook, and the D&D website for hours on end just trying to figure out how to fill everything in, I realized that was a complete fabrication.

Sure they may have made the game itself easier once you get into the adventure itself. But character generation seems leaps and bounds more difficult to me than 2nd edition. I was so frustrated I was ready to throw the books across the room and tell the group where they could stick their 4th edition. In the end I settled on using WotC's online application to create the character (and fill in the character sheet) for me.

Anyone else encountered this with 4th edition?
