Gaming News: "Best Case Scenario"

Viacom has decided, based on declining sales, to unload Harmonix (the studio that makes Rock Band). [more info] Now, as much as I'd like to continue thinking Rock Band is a raging success, the numbers just aren't supporting that hope.
As they like to do, industry analysts have started to respond to the pending sale with guesses about where the company could end up. At the moment it seems the prevailing sentiment is that Harmonix will be picked up by Activision. This of course makes me very sad because my only thought is that Activision will dismantle Harmonix and drop Rock Band, leaving Guitar Hero to bleed the last hardcore fans of the genre. Which in my opinion would be a travesty of gaming justice.
Now the comic itself is titled best case scenario, but neither Stormhaven nor I think that RB falling into Activision's hands is in fact the best possible outcome. In my mind I'd like to see Harmonix buy themselves from Viacom. But if they had to be sold, I can only hope that EA would pick them up just to piss off Kotick. Stormy disagrees with me here. She feels that Microsoft picking the company up and pushing a 360 exclusive direction on them is the way of things and I would be okay with that. Of course my opinion might change if I ever manage to secure a PS3 for myself.
