So Bioware is taking some heat for offering paid downloadable content the day Mass Effect 3 is released. Casey Hudson, one of the game's executive producers, defended the move saying that work hadn't begun on "From Ashes" until after the game was finished in January. Some angry gamers don't care decrying the Day One DLC as nothing more than a money grab. They also say the DLC should have just been included on the release disc. [more info]
I don't care when the game was finished. I don't care when the DLC was finished. It's Bioware's game and as long as that game is COMPLETE at release, why is it such a big deal that they want to sell you additional content the day the game hits shelves? Maybe I'm just becoming an old gamer, but Nerd Rage over this makes NO sense to me. I don't really even know how to respond to it.
If you're one of the folks outraged by this, I'm not trying to belittle your position. I just wanted to express that I don't understand where you're coming from. If the game is released and it's not complete and this DLC is required to finish the game or tell the whole story, then I'll be right there beside you. Otherwise, if you don't like it... don't buy it. That's the most potent way I know of to send game companies a message.
So what do the rest of you think about Day One DLC?
Mass Effect 3 is slated to hit store shelves March 6th.
Note: The outfit Ted is wearing is based on a FAUX nerd rage video about the Mass Effect 3 Day One DLC. I'm fully aware that it is a "bit". I chose it because it amused me.
For Sale: Cintiq 12WX
This poor little guy, awesome though he is, has been sitting on a shelf in my house for years. His only value comes when I travel and want to work while I'm on the road. But, recently I just get the comics done in advance so I can relax while I'm gone. So my 12WX has only been used a handful of times.
I don't really have a price in mind, so I'll take the best offer on it. I just wanted to offer it up to my community before I list it on eBay.
Feel free to email or PM me about it. And yes I'd be happy to draw a picture on the box if that's something you want.
