Apparently Bioware warned and temporarily banned some SWtOR accounts recently because low level characters were going to a planet outside of their level range, and looting containers by the Acclamator-load. Bioware claims they were warning and temporarily banning accounts because players were systemically looting the containers in very high numbers and unbalancing the game's economy. So the warnings and temporary bans were being used so they could conduct and investigation into a potential exploit. [more info]
Reasonable though it may be to squash accounts (temporarily) for exploiting the game, from my perspective this situation seems slightly... off. It just feels like a company reacting to a flaw they created in their own game and are trying to shift attention to the "exploiters" rather than themselves while they slap duct tape on the problem. Of course, I often take on the role as a gamer advocate so it's very possible that I'm being a bit unfair to Bioware here. I've not played on Ilum at low levels, so I have no idea how easy or hard it is to get at these containers.
Doesn't really matter in the end. I saw something and pounced. That's the way most GU strips are made.
So, those of you playing SWtOR, what are your thoughts on all of this?
