I've never played any of the Deus Ex games. So it didn't really matter to me that they were including a free OnLive code for the game with your purchase. But then to hear that Gamestop employees had be instructed to open new game boxes and removed the code? Well that's just horseshit in my book.

See, I have a bit of a hangup when it comes to buying used items. I want to be the first to touch/play something I've purchased. So the idea that Gamestop would open MY game and take something meant for me out of the box is beyond unacceptable. Yes, I fully understand a business not wanting to hand coupons for a competitor service to their customers. But you do NOT open brand new boxes, remove bits, and try to sell them as "new".
Well, the backlash was swift and brutal from the gamer community so Gamestop has since halted the practice, are not selling the opened packages, and are in fact refusing to sell any hard copies of the game at all until Square Enix provides them with a version that does not include the OnLive coupon.
