The Zapper!: "It Is The Future You See"

Yesterday Bioware and Lucas Arts announced Star Wars: the Old Republic (SWtOR) a "story driven" MMO set 300 years after the events of the Knights of the Old Republic series of games. Information regarding SWtOR's release date has not yet been given.

Five seconds after word came out that BioWare was working on an MMO gamers began speculating that it would be based on the lore established by KotOR. Doesn't change the giggling, clapping fanboy bliss that follows the announcement however. Fans seem to trust Bioware's ability to take a Star Wars MMO in an acceptible direction. And you can't really blame them. KotOR was very well received.
The innevitable question however is what does this mean for Star Wars Galaxies? I won't say it's a death knell. If the NGE couldn't kill it, really... what can? But don't mistake the intention of the comic. I'm not saying that both games are circling the Zapper. I just wanted to represent that the games were going to clash in a way you guys would readily understand an accept.
I will say however that, in my opinion, the release of SWtOR will probably be bad for Galaxies. Fans of the current MMO might want to start preaching that at least Galaxies has the characters we all know and love in it. That might be the only thing that could keep the game relatively safe.
