Gaming News: "Developing a Relationship"

I got an email a few days ago telling me how there had been an article in a recent Computer Games Magazine about how SOE had created a new publishing label called Station Publishing that would distribute games from 3rd party developers. And what's their first venture? They're re-releasing Turbine Entertainment's AC and AC2. [ more info ]
Now, my first reaction was to question the news. Being an April issue, I honestly thought it was just an April Fool's hoax. So, after some research and not finding any reputable sources myself, I asked Dionysus to substantiate the article. (I obviously didn't look hard enough.)
He returned to me with a link to GameSpot. [ more info ] And, I had to wipe tears of exhultant, humor-laden, joy from my eyes. It was all just so ridiculously perfect.
Now, Dionysus posited that it was likely a grab at more market. But, I had a different idea of what the reason might be. **grins**
If I thought he'd answer, I'd ask Smed what the hell was the real motivation. Ah what the heck, I think I'll ask anyway. I'll let you know if I get an answer.

I'd just like to add that I don't have anything against Turbine, AC, or AC2. I used them completely for the joke value.
