Well, I think I've crossed the line into smug, when it comes to EA references. I really wanted to just avoid them and not do another comic about their slow purchase of the globe.
But, it's like a non-stop EA news feed around the gaming world. You think they've finally stopped letting their money burn a hole in their pockets, and then some other purchase or goal gets a news byte. I mean, shortly after the NFL exclusivity deal, they signed a 15 year contract with ESPN. 15 years? **shakes his head** ~ Gamespot [ more info ]
Then after media mogul Rupert Murdoch expressed interest in buying into the gaming industry [ more info ], and realized he couldn't really afford the pricetag on EA, EA let folks know that they were interested in branching out into other forms of entertainment themselves. So, yesterday, it only seemed natural that they would announce that they want to take the Sims to the small screen (TV). ~ Gamespot [ more info ]
What I can't figure out is, why do I begrudge them their success? Maybe it's the infinite supply of game reviews that basically equate to them tossing quality out the window in order to increase their market share. Or maybe it's just that I'm tired of hearing them. And, I for a person that tends to root for the underdog, it make my pancreas hurt watching them stomp their competition flat. **shrugs**
So, Today's Comic is a double entendre I guess. On the one hand it shows my rising frustration with the MMOG genre. And, on the other hand it shows my disgruntled acceptance of the EA monopoly machine.
