9-11 Tribute Shirts ( December 20th, 2002 )
Please read carefully! The 9-11 tribute shirts will be discontinued January 1st and likely will not be made available again. I'll let you guys know exactly how much GU fans raised and which charity the money will go to shortly after the first. We might not have raised a LOT but atleast we did our part right? So, thanks to everyone who bought a shirt.

Congratulations DenMom and EQTC Why? Because they told EZBoards where to stick it! Of late, the most popular message board system among EQ Community sites has hit folks up for money at every turn. And the amount they were demanding from the most active boards was ridiculous. The folks at EQTC refused their charges and moved to a new Message Board system. I only hope that more EQ community sites will follow suit, and show EZBoards that they can't get away with robbery.
Possible Downtime ( November 24th, 2002 )
Keenspace is changing servers. The Keen Admins informed me that they're moving ALL of keenspace over to a newer more powerful server. Where this will mean better page response in the future, it may mean outages, downtime, and no strip updates for the next week. I have been having log in problems intermitantly, so I'm just not sure how the next week will go.

In what has to be one of the single largest game-altering announcements in EQ history, Verant lays out their plans for re-balancing Manaburn, Mod Rods, Complete Heal, and Monk Defenses. Read it. Read it! READ IT! There is going to be a LOT of fall-out. There is going to be a LOT of whining. Me... ALRIGHT! I'll explain this one. As Planes of Power gets closer to it's scheduled release (10/21 US | 11/21 UK), I've been reading over the prologues SOE has posted on the Planes of Power website and quite frankly... I haven't understood a single one. I'm just waiting for the final one to somehow tie them all together. I doubt it will; but, I can hope right?

It's been a year. And, where I am not generally given to doing tributes, I was overcome by the need to honor the memory of the heroes of 9-11 in the only way I could: through my artwork.

Kisai's hardwork paid off as the bandwidth leech was located and dealt with. Kisai tracked the IP back to a University in Norway. When contacted about the issue, the university found the troublesome computer and bumped it off the network.

I got the following email from Kisai at Keenspace: See below. I'm certain you KNOW who you are. Horrible show of support that. What this means for everyone else is... if you like GU, support it. Don't link directly to images. Post the link to the appropriate archive page. Don't write scripts that go out and try to grab new images as they are updated. Just visit the site. Is that so hard? C'mon show me some love guys. Just cause you CAN do something doesn't mean you HAVE to. And, don't get lazy on me. After sifting through innumerable emails I think I've got a pretty good idea on where most of the GU populace stand on this thing. Ethics dictate that I not share the results, and the sheer number of emails means I can't respond to each of you individually. But, I read every one of them and will keep them in mind as I consider the future of GU.

I'm back from Boston and there is some important business to discuss. While I was at the FanFaire I received hosting offers from both CastersRealm and Allakhazam's. And, I'm not sure how to proceed.
This IS important! Please take a moment to read and leave input. So, what we're looking at here is the opportunity to extend the GU fan base AND improved the load time of the strip. Both Caster's Realm and Allakhazam's would be great hosts, but as it is GU is comfortable at Keenspace. The main reason for the comfort is the lack of Pop Up ads. If I were to move GU to either site, we would need to put up new ads and such to cover the cost of hosting and generate revenue. Visiting the two potential new hosts should give you a basic feel for what the ads would be like and the posibilities of pop ups. This is where you come in! GU is currently a hobby done more for the fans than for me. So, I want your input on the potential move. Would you rather have slow load times and no pop ups, or fast load times and occassional pop ups? At this point it's NOT a matter of picking which, though if you have a preference, please let me know. Additional Notes: (for your consideration) The first issue that should be cleared up is the quote: "generate revenue". This means generate revenue for me. This means GU becomes my full time job. As I do not currently have a job, this would supliment the income I bring in from commissions. So I want it to be clear that this would be a money making venture. Keenspace is NOT giving me the boot. So this input from the fans of GU is crucial. If a lot of you would stop reading the strip because of the possibility of a popup then it certainly is NOT a move I'm willing to make. It's a move I was wary about in the first place. This is me trying to tell YOU, the fans, that YOU are more important to me than potential revenue. Allakhazam Premium members would not deal with ads on the GU site. But you need not worry that content will be tucked away for premium users only. No content on the GU site will EVER be hidden. Caster's Realm is currently the primary source of news that inspire GU strips. GU would likely go back to 5 strips a week. Allakhazams and Casters Realm approached me about this. I did not approach them about it. This kind of move strengthens the Everquest Community. Other sites have offered to host GU in the past, but none have offered 100% of any ad revenue generated by the site. The integrity of the site will NOT be compromised. Strips and news items will NEVER be guided or forced by anyone but me. With assistance from savvy GU readers, GU could move to it's own dedicated server with high burstable bandwidth. Well, I'm off to the FanFaire. And, unfortunately I ran out of time far too quickly to have gotten to DO the things I wanted to get done before I left. So, there won't be a new strip Friday or Monday. AND, I didn't get the new UI done in time. It'll just have to wait until I get back. Sorry. I'll be back on the 6th. See ya!

Today's Patch ushers in the NEW, skinnable, EQ User Interface (as well as the Bazaar, a new zone, and new Vah Shir character models for those of you that don't use Luclin Graphics). The handful of strips I've done about the NEW UI already should tell you that I'm excited about this. So, I'd like to direct your attention to EQInterface.Com a new site that will host lots of player made skins OR help you with skinning your NEW UI yourself.
