Woody & Ted: "Real World"
Posted: Monday July 2nd, 2012 by

I've mentioned it a few times now, but it bears making a special note of commenting on "the Shed". It's an 8x10' solar shed kit. For a person like me with some experience in construction it should have been easy. It has not been.

A lot of wood in the kit was warped when we got it. The warping was made worse while the materials sat covered out in the back yard for a couple of weeks while I cut & rolled sod, cleared, and leveled the area in which it would be built. The whole thing would have gone relatively smoothly except for one small problem: time. After I finish the comic and then do my standard work load for the day, I only have a couple of hours per day to commit to the project. But some days the comic runs late or I need to watch theKid while Taks goes to Derby practice. So something that should take me 2-3 days tops stretches on and on and on.

Now the family is set to go on vacation starting the 4th. The shed needs to be finished before then. But, I have to get all the comics done in advance so I don't have to try to take the Cintiq with me. But, I also have a big commission (that I lost track of) to finish. I have Daily Doodles to finish, print, ship. It's just a mess right now, so I'm feeling horribly overworked. An actual vacation would be nice, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to de-stress enough to enjoy myself.

Anywho, I'll stop whining at you guys. Got to get out there and shingle the thing. **grins**

If you feel you'd like to try to help my vacation easier, I'd love to get some guest strips or joke ideas. You can find the template here: http://www.gucomics.com/assets -OR- you can email/PM me your joke ideas.

For the Daily Doodle folks, all but the most recent three Doodles sponsored by customers in the US have now been shipped. After I got the new printer working with me, it took 6+ hours last night just to print out all the shipping labels. To save time, I skipped including packing slips. So if you need that to serve as some kind of invoice, let me know and I'll get you a printable version for your records. International customers and the last 3 US customers, your prints should be in the mail tomorrow, unless I run out of flat mailers. In which case they will go out Wednesday before I leave for vacation. Thanks as always for your patience.
