I read yesterday that Micheal Bay, in conjunction with one of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is making the an alien species in the upcoming franchise's live-action reboot. [more info] I was immediately disgusted.
First off I screwed up my face in barely contained rage due to the fact that Micheal Bay is being allowed to get his hack hands on another of my childhood memories. But then... I have the original graphic novel in front of me. The Turtles are regular turtles that fell into some "strange ooze". What could be the possible reason for Bay and Eastman or Laird deciding they should be aliens? My only guess is that it allows for Bay to open the movie with an alien world exploding that lasts no less than 30 minutes.
Fan outrage has been intense, even though Bay told them (condescendingly, in my opinion) to "take a breath, and chill". [more info] No you leather skinned, sun bleached blonde, explosion-as-a-crutch dickweed; I most certainly will not. I'll rant and rave and keep my money out of your hands until you change it. Because the Turtles are turtles not aliens that miraculously LOOK like turtles. If Shredder ends up not making it on screen, it's because he's behind the camera.
