Gaming News: "For the Dreamcast"
Posted: Tuesday September 16th, 2008 by

In an Interview with Keih Stuart over at Guardian Gamer Blogs, current EA Sports President, Peter Moore, talked briefly about his time at Sega. Moore was hired onto the Dreamcast team and despite generating decent sales and knowing they "could win" the console wasn't moving fast enough to sustain the business and contend with the pending PS2 release. So on the last day of January 2001 Sega announced that they were backing out of the hardware side of the industry. Moore was selected to make the calls firing folks.

So yeah, Peter Moore didn't really kill the Dreamcast. But he was neck deep in the ugly. The interview was an interesting read. There was a lot of info in there about Peter Moore that I didn't know. Quite a bit of it made the move to president of EA Sports make a LOT more sense.

As always, I do not condone the killing of high profile members of the gaming industry.
