The Zapper!: "So Much Alike?"

Recently, Go Nintendo spoke with a Nintendo customer service rep and found out that Nintendo would no longer be restocking stores with the WaveBird Wireless Controller. Source: Go Nintendo [ more info ]
Now, I'd heard of the Wavebird, but I've never seen or used one. That doesn't stop me from doing a Zapper strip about it though. Wireless though it may be, and despite having the word "bird" in it's name, I have no idea how the thing took flight. Sure it could have been thrown, but why? By all accounts it was a pretty cool controller.
Meh, we're gamers, we don't really need a reason to throw a controller. That does beg the question "why throw it at a bug zapper?" though.
