Rockband: "Making it all Better"
Posted: Thursday November 29th, 2007 by

Yesterday (11/28) Harmonix contacted Kotaku to tell them that Rockband owners experiencing issues with their guitars should contact EA support, that replacements would be sent immediately, and that they were sorry for the hassle. Harmonix also explained that they were working to solve Guitar Hero guitar compatibility issues with Rockband for the PS3.

With all the gaming news I read, I've seen a LOT of articles about issues with the Rockband guitar, some issues with the drum kit, and a wealth of upset PS3 owners who, unlike their 360 owning brethren, can not currently use Guitar Hero controllers to play Rockband.

As I alluded to in the comic, I'm having some issues with the Rockband guitar (for the 360) myself. Down-strumming doesn't work for me 100% of the time, and I can't get the guitar to activate Overdrive. So, I'll likely be one of the folks mailing my guitar back in. Luckily I adore the GH3 Les Paul, so I'm okay not having the Stratocaster for a few weeks.

Issues with the drumkit seem to center around the drum heads breaking down too quickly. And the PS3 owners are just kinda getting the shaft in regards to guitar compatibility. Not being able to use GH guitars means they have to know other people that own the game in order to play in a full 4 piece band because only one guitar is shipped in the bundle and stand alone instruments aren't going to be available until early next year.

Until the issues on all platforms are corrected, Harmonix seems to be making sure that their customers are taken care of to the best of company's abilities. As the sourced article says "We all make mistakes, it's how a company deals with them that matters and this is exactly how it should be done".
